The Lucky Dog Lodge is the perfect alternative to a full service guest lodge at roughly a tenth of the price. If your party has willing cooks, or an appetite for the many superb food services of the Gallatin Valley, then come enjoy all the privacy you want and all the space you need!   The Lucky Dog is palatial comfort, pure and simple. This grand log structure, built with gleaming ponderosa pine logs from Montana forests, recalls the majestic natural beauty of the Rockies. As you enter, your eye is immediately drawn to the third floor balcony and the massive logs and ridge pole that dominate the interior. The fir tongue-and-groove ceiling is lit by myriad natural light sources. The open design and high ceilings create a spacious and airy feel. Radiant floor heating and thick log walls maintain a comfortable temperature year-round. Wood decks extend from the second and third floors, as well a large ground level deck, offering views of a number of famous mountain ranges and the Gallatin River. Relax to the rushing of the Gallatin in log beds, reclaimed from an old Montana ranch. Better yet, soak in the balcony hot tub overlooking the river as the sun sets behind the magnificent Spanish Peaks. The great hall on the main floor harbors a fully equipped kitchen, complete with pine breakfast bar and a large dining area. The comfortable relaxing area is also perfect for family games or business retreat meetings. Upstairs are two levels of living quarters: 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms supporting at least 15 guests (like anywhere, depends how close together they are willing to live and sleep). Regarding sleeping places, there are 3 queen beds, 6 x-long twins, 2 twins, 1 double, 3 floor pads (surprisingly comfortable). Mathematically that’s at least 20 persons but if you are bringing together a group of business associates they may not be comfortable sharing beds or bedrooms. If you need more rooms, consider reserving our beautiful River Bend Cabin. It’s just next door and will comfortably accommodate an additional 6 guests. Lucky Dog Lodge 2nd floor has 4 bedrooms: 3 of those bedrooms have a queen size bed, 1 bedroom has two x-long twin beds Lucky Dog Lodge 3rd floor has 2 large bedrooms: There are 4 x-long twin beds in one of those bedrooms, the other bedroom has 2 regular twins and a full size bed. Extra sleeping options: 3 high quality floor pads (3-section fold out upholstered pads) that can be made up with bedding main floor couches Location The Lucky Dog is located conveniently 20 minutes from the Bozeman airport and 12 minutes from Montana State University or the heart of Bozeman. The small town of Four Corners is only 3 minutes away with food, supplies, fishing guides and equipment. Amazing hiking, rafting, skiing, horseback riding, and golf destinations are within an hour in almost any direction from the Lodge. Yellowstone National Park is a gorgeous 1.5 hour drive south. Exercise and relaxation at the Bozeman Hot Springs is a short walk away, offering heated pools, a fitness center, and saunas. Besides the ability to fish the legendary Gallatin from your back yard, fishing spots along the Missouri, Yellowstone, Madison, and their countless tributaries are all within a short drive from this breath taking adventure command center! Fishing guide service available – special rates for October/April Featured as Log Home of the Month by BuildLogHomes.org, where you can learn to build your own log home! The story of the Lucky Dog Lodge was featured in At Home, a monthly insert in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, in June 2001. Click here to read a copy of that article: Lucky Dog Lodge Article

It was exactly as advertised.

LOVED this place! Easily slept 16 comfortably – and everyone had a bed! Nice to have access to river – got in a little fishing plus time for reflection by the water. The place is spacious, clean, comfortable and with a well-stocked kitchen, outside living space, and workable layout throughout for large groups. It was nice to have the option of dogs and the hot tub was a plus! The Lucky Dog Lodge has this uncanny sense of warmth and life! Thanks to the Lucky Dog Lodge for offering such a great spot!

This was the second time our family gathered at the Lucky Dog Lodge. The first time was soon after it was first being offered for rent in July of 2002 and then again in July of 2014. Some of the family members who were with us the first time were not there this time )-; but we had 5 sweet new faces to enjoy this this time around. The 5 grand-kids ages 10 – 3 had such a great time and there was plenty of room for all of them to play together. The gathering area of the house is huge and there was always plenty of room for all of us to be together but not always doing the same things. The Lucky Dog Lodge is close enough to town and lots of other fun activities and yet far enough away from it all that the kids and adults could enjoy the outdoors, including the beautiful Gallatin River with the many fishing adventures Grandpa was able to share with the grand kids. The Lodge a great place and our family feels blessed to have been able to call the Lucky Dog Lodge HOME for two amazing weeks and we can only hope that one day we will be able to make it THREE!

Our group had 11 people and even with that amount the space was large enough were everyone was beyond comfortable. The pictures don’t do this place justice as when you step into the lodge it is much bigger and you can feel the TLC that was put into the building. I’d like to thank both Marissa & Jeff (owner) as they were great to work with both in preparation of our arrival and during our stay. The location is near four corners in Bozeman and it was a 10 minute drive to downtown but at night you’re outside the city so it feels like you can touch the stars. Having river access was great as well as you can do some hiking literally right out the back door. We skied at both Bridger Bowl and Big Sky and the drive to each was roughly 30 minutes. Some in our group were not skiers so it was nice for them as they had the eclectic shops and restaurants that Bozeman had to offer.

The Lucky Dog was the perfect place for our group of 12. From the amazing logs and the special story behind the lodge to the vegetable garden in the backyard, the Lucky Dog has it all. It was warm, inviting, spacious, comfortable, clean, convenient, and relaxing. The kitchen is well equipped and easy to use.The beds are comfortable and there were bathrooms enough even for this sixty-something crowd. The Lucky Dog gave the perfect western flavor to our stay in the “last best place.” Many thanks to the Copelands for their hospitality.

We have stayed at this property twice with a large ski group and absolutely love it! The lodge is as beautiful as it is comfortable. The many rooms with many beds as well as ample common areas make this perfect for a big group. The location on the Gallatin is wonderful and you can hear the river running even during the winter. We’re looking forward to staying at the lodge again next year!

We stayed at “The Lucky Dog Lodge” July 31-August 5, 2010, to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with our three daughters, their husbands and children. We totaled 17 plus a small dog. Everyone of us thought the logde was a dream come true. It is beautiful in it’s magnifience. So much room for everybody. It was very clean and lacked nothing for our comfort and convenience. We did only one outing each day, wanting to spend the rest of the time at the beautiful lodge. The owner was most kind, even offering us free vegetables to pick in his garden! We appreciated all of the bedrooms, and having the bathrooms seperate from the bedrooms is a big plus. The kitchen was very well equipped – even having two coffee pots! We also appreciated having a washer and dryer to use. We felt it to be a most excellent value. We all wanted to stay a month!! We hope to come again. Thank you, Mike and Jeff Copeland, for renting Lucky Dog Lodge to us and thank you, Paul House for working everything out for us via the internet. Thanks for having the internet site where we found your lodge.

Sincerely, Stan and Barbara Cole from Whittier, CA, July ’10
